Mayenite supported perovskite monoliths for catalytic combustion of methyl methacrylate

摘要: To improve their thermal stability, La Sr MnO cordierite monoliths are washcoated with mayenite, which is a novel Al-based material with the crystal structure of 12MO·7Al O (M= Ca, Sr). The monoliths are characterized by means of nitrogen adsorption/desorption, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. Catalytic performances of the monoliths are tested for methyl methacrylate combustion. The results show that mayenite obviously improves both the physic-chemical properties and the catalytic performance of the monoliths. Because mayenite improves the dispersity of La Sr MnO and also prevents the interaction between La Sr MnO and cordierite or -Al O , both crystal structure and surface morphology of La Sr MnO phase can thereby be stable on the mayenite surface even at high temperature up to 1050 oC. Under the given reaction conditions, La Sr MnO monolith washcoated with 12SrO·7Al O shows the best catalytic activity for methyl methacrylate combustion among all the tested monoliths.

Catalytic combustion of volatile organic compounds using perovskite oxides catalysts—a review

摘要: With the rapid development of industry, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are gaining attention as a class of pollutants that need to be eliminated due to their adverse effects on the environment and human health. Catalytic combustion is the most popular technology used for the removal of VOCs as it can be adapted to different organic emissions under mild conditions. This review first introduces the hazards of VOCs, their treatment technologies, and summarizes the treatment mechanism issues. Next, the characteristics and catalytic performance of perovskite oxides as catalysts for VOC removal are expounded, with a special focus on lattice distortions and surface defects caused by metal doping and surface modifications, and on the treatment of different VOCs. The challenges and the prospects regarding the design of perovskite oxides catalysts for the catalytic combustion of VOCs are also discussed. This review provides a reference base for improving the performance of perovskite catalysts to treat VOCs.

Promoting effect of Zr on the catalytic combustion of methane over Pd/γ-Al

摘要: The effect of Zr on the catalytic performance of Pd/γ-Al O for the methane combustion was investigated. The results show that the addition of Zr can improve the activity and stability of Pd/γ-Al O catalyst, which, based on the catalyst characterization (N adsorption, XRD, CO-Chemisorption, XPS, CH -TPR and O -TPO), is ascribed to the interaction between Pd and Zr. The active phase of methane combustion over supported palladium catalyst is the Pd /Pd mixture. Zr addition inhibits Pd aggregation and enhances the redox properties of active phase Pd / Pd . H reduction could effectively reduce the oxidation degree of Pd species and regenerate the active sites (Pd / Pd ).

Catalytic combustion of methane over a highly active and stable NiO/CeO

摘要: In the last decades, many reports dealing with technology for the catalytic combustion of methane (CH ) have been published. Recently, attention has increasingly focused on the synthesis and catalytic activity of nickel oxides. In this paper, a NiO/CeO catalyst with high catalytic performance in methane combustion was synthesized via a facile impregnation method, and its catalytic activity, stability, and water-resistance during CH combustion were investigated. X-ray diffraction, low-temperature N adsorption, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, hydrogen temperature programmed reduction, methane temperature programmed surface reaction, Raman spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance, and transmission electron microscope characterization of the catalyst were conducted to determine the origin of its high catalytic activity and stability in detail. The incorporation of NiO was found to enhance the concentration of oxygen vacancies, as well as the activity and amount of surface oxygen. As a result, the mobility of bulk oxygen in CeO was increased. The presence of CeO prevented the aggregation of NiO, enhanced reduction by NiO, and provided more oxygen species for the combustion of CH . The results of a kinetics study indicated that the reaction order was about 1.07 for CH and about 0.10 for O over the NiO/CeO catalyst.

Progress in developing an innovative lean burn catalytic turbine technology for fugitive methane mitigation

摘要: Approximately 2.8 × 10 m of methane is emitted per year to the atmosphere from coal mining activities around the world. Mitigation and utilization of the fugitive coal mine methane is very difficult because its concentration is very low and varies from 0.1% to1%, and the methane is contained in a large air flow rate of 150–400 m /s. This paper overviews existing and developing technologies for the mitigation and utilization of the fugitive mine methane, and then presents research progress in developing an innovative lean burn catalytic turbine technology for fugitive methane mitigation and utilization. This turbine system can be powered with about 1% methane in air.

Properties of La1-xCexCoO3 system perovskite-type catalysts for diesel engine exhaust removal

摘要: A series of complex oxide LaCeCoO catalysts was synthesized at a low temperature through a combustion process, in which x is among 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 corresponding to the quantity of La partial substitution by Ce. The catalysts were characterized for phase composition using chemical analysis and X-ray diffraction. The catalytic activity of the catalysts in removal of NO, total hydrocarbon (THC) and particulate matter (PM) from diesel exhaust gases were examined in detail using temperature-programmed reaction technique. The results show that after partial substitution of La with Ce, the oxygen vacancy concentration increases significantly and a Co-Co system is formed. Consequently, the catalytic activity in the removal of THC and NO is significantly improved. But for the PM, the effect is not so obvious. The possible catalytic mechanism for this was presented. It is also worth noting that the doped catalysts showed good stability.

摘要: The Pd catalyst supported on cryptomelane-type manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieve (OMS-2) were prepared. The effect of Pd loading on the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide, toluene, and ethyl acetate over Pd/OMS-2 has been investigated. The results show that the Pd loading plays an important role on the physicochemical properties of the Pd/OMS-2 catalysts which outperform the Pd-free counterpart with the 0.5Pd/OMS-2 catalyst being the best. The temperature for 50% conversion was 25, 240 and 160 °C, and the temperature for 90% conversion was 55, 285 and 200 °C for oxidation of CO, toluene, and ethyl acetate, respectively. The low-temperature reducibility and high oxygen mobility of Pd/OMS-2 are the factors contributable to the excellent catalytic performance of 0.5Pd/OMS-2.

A logic-based controller for the mitigation of ventilation air methane in a catalytic flow reversal reactor

摘要: The control system of a catalytic flow reversal reactor (CFRR) for the mitigation of ventilation air methane was investigated. A one-dimensional heterogeneous model with a logic-based controller was applied to simulate the CFRR. The simulation results indicated that the controller developed in this work performs well under normal conditions. Air dilution and auxiliary methane injection are effective to avoid the catalyst overheating and reaction extinction caused by prolonged rich and lean feed conditions, respectively. In contrast, the reactor is prone to lose control by adjusting the switching time solely. Air dilution exhibits the effects of two contradictory aspects on the operation of CFRR, i.e., cooling the bed and accumulating heat, though the former is in general more prominent. Lowering the reference temperature for flow reversal can decrease the bed temperature and benefit stable operation under rich methane feed condition.

Catalytic cracking of endothermic fuels in coated tube reactor

摘要: Suspensoid of HZSM-5 or HY zeolites mixed with a self-made ceramic-like binder was coated on the inner wall of a tubular reactor by gas-aided fluid displacement technology. The coated zeolites were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The coating thickness is 10–20 ?m and the particle size of the zeolites is in the range of 1–5 ?m. In the coated reactor, cracking of endothermic fuels including -dodecane and aviation fuel RP-3 was carried out separately under supercritical conditions at 600°C and 625°C to investigate their heat sinks and conversion of catalytic reactions. For the reaction catalyzed by HY(25% mass fraction) coating, the heat sink capacity of -dodecane are 815.7 and 901.9 kJ/kg higher than that of the bare tube at 600°C and at 625°C, respectively. Conversion of -dodecane also increases from 42% to 60% at 600°C and from 66% to 80% at 625°C. The coated zeolite can significantly inhibit the carbon deposition during supercritical cracking reactions.

A review on catalytic & non-catalytic bio-oil upgrading in supercritical fluids

摘要: This review article summarizes the key published research on the topic of bio-oil upgrading using catalytic and non-catalytic supercritical fluid (SCF) conditions. The precious metal catalysts Pd, Ru and Pt on various supports are frequently chosen for catalytic bio-oil upgrading in SCFs. This is reportedly due to their favourable catalytic activity during the process including hydrotreating, hydrocracking, and esterification, which leads to improvements in liquid yield, heating value, and pH of the upgraded bio-oil. Due to the costs associated with precious metal catalysts, some researchers have opted for non-precious metal catalysts such as acidic HZSM-5 which can promote esterification in supercritical ethanol. On the other hand, SCFs have been effectively used to upgrade crude bio-oil without a catalyst. Supercritical methanol, ethanol, and water are most commonly used and demonstrate catalyst like activities such as facilitating esterification reactions and reducing solid yield by alcoholysis and hydrolysis, respectively.

Combustion characteristics and kinetics of bio-oil

摘要: The combustion characteristics of bio-oils derived from rice husk and corn were studied by thermogravimetry analysis. According to the thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermogravimetry (DTG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) curves of bio-oils in air and nitrogen atmosphere, we analyzed the combustion characteristics of different kinds of bio-oils in different atmospheres and worked out the combustion kinetics parameters of the bio-oil, providing reliable base data for the burning of bio-oil. The thermogravimetry indicated that the combustion process of bio-oil was divided into three stages. At the same time, the combustion process can be described by different order reaction models, and with the method of Coats-Redfern, the activation energy and frequency factor of different kinds of bio-oils were obtained.
